Poultry farmers in the Eastern Region are urging fellow citizens to support local poultry during the Christmas festivities.
Nana Dr. Okra Baadu III, recognized as the 2023 Kwahu West Best Poultry Farmer and CEO of Shannon Mickay Farm in Asaase Fufuom, Kwahu West Municipality, emphasized the importance of choosing local birds to boost the Ghanaian poultry industry.
Expressing concerns about the health implications and higher costs associated with imported frozen chicken, Nana Dr. Okra Baadu III appealed to Ghanaians to opt for locally raised poultry during the holiday season.
In addition to advocating for local poultry consumption, Nana Dr. Okra Baadu III highlighted the challenges confronting poultry farmers.
He appealed to the government to intervene in the poultry business, recognizing the need for support to overcome existing obstacles.
Furthermore, Nana Dr. Okra Baadu III called on the government to address the deteriorating state of the road network in Asaase Fufuom, emphasizing the significance of improved infrastructure for the well-being of the community.
