The Inauguration And Induction Ceremony of Assembly Members at Ga-South Municipal Assembly by the Local Government Act has sworn in 19 newly-elected Assembly Members and 9 Government Appointees a Total of 28.
In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Nyarni, congratulated all the Assembly members on their victory and also took the opportunity to remind them that, they jointly have a mandate in their collective quest to develop the Ga-South Municipality and have a huge responsibility on their hand as far as the work of the Assembly is concerned.
Speaking to the media, after the Assembly Members failed to elect the Presiding Member, he explained the Assembly had a successful inauguration and Induction Ceremony but failed to elect a Presiding Member (PM) after two rounds of voting for the first time in the Ga- South Municipality.
The contestants, Hon. Winfred Ayetey (candidate 1) and Hon. Adonu Peter (candidate 2) both failed to obtain the two-thirds majority approval of 21 valid votes from the Assembly.
He stated, the need for the Assembly Members to bear in mind that lack of a Presiding Member (PM) would affect the activities of the Assembly and advised the newly elected Assembly Members to put Politics behind and come back in 10 days to do the needful.
