The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), with support from the Ministry of Finance, has launched an ambitious initiative aimed at training 100,000 Ghanaian youth.
The program, known as the Skills for Jobs Project, is expected to create approximately 120 jobs across the country in various sectors, including phone repairs, cosmetics, bread making, jewelry, pedicure and manicure, decor, makeup artistry, key cutting, and CCTV installation.
During the launch, Dr. Stephen Amoah, Deputy Minister of Finance and special guest at the event, emphasized the current challenges in creating regular or corporate jobs.
“We are in a dispensation where creating regular or corporate jobs has been a challenge,” he stated, urging youth to develop skills as a pathway to success.
He added that the future is in their hands and encouraged them to commit to acquiring skills now for better opportunities ahead.
Dr. Amoah warned that if the youth let this “golden opportunity” slip away, they should not blame anyone in the future.
He highlighted that in more advanced countries, individuals with skills often earn more than those in traditional corporate roles.
Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, CEO of NEIP, reiterated the administration’s belief that youth entrepreneurship is key to unlocking the potential of young people and stimulating job creation.
He noted that since 2017, nearly 2 million Ghanaian youth have been empowered through skills training initiatives by NEIP.
Mr Nkansah remarked that NEIP will continue to leverage its platform to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship among Ghanaian youth.
“We will continue to use our platform to impact and nurture the can-do spirit among the vast majority of the Ghanaian youth,” he said.
