As part of the phase II of the Bono Regional JM and Jane NDC Victory Retail Campaign tour, Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, visited the Suma Ahenkro and Seketia communities in the Jaman North Constituency today, October 25, 2024.
The campaign aims to rally support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the upcoming elections.
During the visit to Suma Ahenkro, the local chief reflected on the contributions of late President Mills’ administration, particularly in establishing the University of Energy (UNER) in Sunyani, which has now expanded to include a satellite campus.
Hon. Asiedu Nketiah assured residents that a future NDC government under John Mahama will work to expand the university further to offer additional courses.
He praised the chief for his support and highlighted his own contributions to developmental projects in the Brong Ahafo Region.
A key message from Asiedu Nketiah was his appeal for community support to re-elect Hon. MP Frederick Yaw Ahenkwah, stating, “I will personally support Hon. Ahenkwah in our government. I need you, the nananom, to mobilize the people to vote massively for NDC.”
The campaign also included the commissioning of a new zonal NDC party office and a branded Sprinter van donated by Nana Rock to aid in constituency mobilization.
In Seketia, where Chairman General Mosquito once taught in 1978, he urged community members to shift their allegiance from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the NDC.
“Vote massively for NDC so you Seketia people can chest out and come to my office to demand what you need,” he encouraged.
He reminisced about his time teaching there and emphasized that his current position as national chairman is rooted in those early experiences.
To further incentivize support, Asiedu Nketiah promised 50 NDC T-shirts for former NPP members willing to join their cause and pledged a motorbike for campaign use in Seketia.
The chiefs of Seketia expressed gratitude for past developments facilitated by the NDC, including basic school buildings and health facilities, while requesting improvements in roads and job opportunities for youth.
In closing, Hon. Asiedu Nketiah reiterated his commitment to supporting MP Frederick Yaw Ahenkwah’s initiatives within a future JM and Jane NDC government.
He encouraged voters to recognize their power at the polls: “Your votes in the upcoming elections will speak for you.”
