The scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana have rewarded some Ghanaians who have dedicated their live in volunteerism.
The Scout and Guide Awards 2024 was the first of it kind since the scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana were established in the year 1957.
Dr Albert Tetteh Botchwey,board chairman of the Fellowship said the Awards are to motivate the youth who have dedicated their lives, their time in volunteering to support activities that aids in bringing Ghana peaceful atmosphere we are enjoying as a country.
He called on corporate Ghana and the government to support Scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana in the pursuit to train five thousand youth to be volunteers to render their support to Mother Ghana.
According to him,lack of funding has made the work of the scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana very difficult ,our support from the government was frozen since former President Rawlings left office.
On his part, Andrew Botchwey, National president of Scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana, stated that they are going to collaborate with the Kofi Anan International Peace keeping training centre to inculcate the spirit of peace in Ghanaians.
To him,the scout and Guide Fellowship Ghana will play role in ensuring that the next generation of Ghanaians have the right attitude and genuine mentality to steer the affairs of the country when the leadership mantel is handed over to them.
The Scout and Guide Fellowship of Ghana is a voluntary non-political organisation for adults. Based on the Scout/Guide ideals, its essential purpose is to assist its members to maintain the values learned in the youth movements.
