NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY CONSTITUTES AN ELECTION REVIEW COMMITTEE; SELECTS LEADERS OF THE PARTY’S PARLIAMENTARY GROUP.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a significant step towards introspection and improvement by constituting an Election Review Committee. This committee, chaired by the former Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Oquaye, aims to conduct a thorough review of the party’s performance in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Kodua, emphasized the party’s commitment to self-reflection and growth. The National Council, the party’s second-highest decision-making body, met to discuss key issues, including the election performance.

The eleven-member committee comprises individuals with diverse backgrounds, including academia, research, and former members of parliament. Their mandate is four-fold:

  • Review of internal activities: Analyze the party’s internal processes, from polling station executive elections to presidential and parliamentary primaries.
  • Campaign structure review: Examine the campaign strategy, messaging, digitization, and other relevant aspects.
  • Organizational structure review: Evaluate the party’s organizational framework to identify areas for improvement.
  • Rebranding and recommendations: Provide suggestions for rebranding and strengthening the party to ensure a winning performance in the 2028 elections.

The committee has three months to complete their work, with a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for next week. They will work through sub-committees to cover different areas and submit their findings to the National Council for deliberation and approval.
