In a significant step towards organizing the 2025 International Women’s Day celebration, the Young Christian Workers (YCW) Southern Zone executives made a visit to Holy Church Agormanya to engage with members of the base groups,LOC and lay the foundation for what promises to be a memorable event.
The visit, held on January 26, 2025, brought together a team of enthusiastic YCW leaders led by President George Banson & Secretary Aaron Ziorklui, Coordinator Charles Mensah who were warmly received by the interiem leadership led by Catechist Stephen Tetteh, including members. The primary goal of the visit was to create a space for collaboration and discussion around the upcoming celebration, focusing on how to highlight the contributions, struggles, and achievements of women, particularly in the context of faith, community, and social justice.
The executives, led by Southern Zone President, George Kojo Banson, met with Holy Trinity base group to discuss the theme for the event, potential activities, and how the church could be involved in the celebrations. George Kojo Banson emphasized that the celebration was not only about honoring women’s progress but also about acknowledging the challenges women face and fostering solidarity across various sectors of society.
“We are excited to involve the church community in what will be a powerful day for reflection, action, and empowerment,” George remarked. “International Women’s Day provides us with an opportunity to come together in faith, celebrate the contributions of women, and inspire future generations to continue striving for equality.”
The visit also saw discussions around the organization of a series of events leading up to March 9, 2025, including pre-launch,talks on women’s empowerment.These activities will engage both young people and adults, fostering intergenerational dialogue and promoting a deeper understanding of gender equality within the church.
The YCW Southern Zone executives left the meeting feeling optimistic about the collaboration with Holy Trinity Catholic Church Agormanya, noting that the partnership would serve as a model for other faith community to get involved in celebrating women’s achievements in both the sacred and secular spheres.
As the countdown to International Women’s Day 2025 continues, the YCW Southern Zone is determined to make this celebration a significant and transformative event. Their visit to Holy Trinity Catholic Church marked the beginning of an important journey—one that will uplift women, inspire change, and build lasting connections within the church and beyond.
