Ga West Municipal Assembly celebrated National Sanitation Day

 

On Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Amasaman Electoral Area. The event was part of the government’s initiative to promote cleanliness and environmental hygiene, observed on the first Saturday of every month.

Honorable John Desmond Sowah Nai, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that traditional leaders, assembly members, and unit committee members are working together to mobilize residents to keep their areas clean. He encouraged citizens to take ownership of their environment, citing the saying “cleanliness is next to Godliness” ¹.

The Member of Parliament for Amasaman Constituency, Honorable Sedem Kweku Afenyo, praised the participation in the clean-up exercise but noted that some market traders were not cooperating, citing excuses such as traveling to Accra to buy goods. He urged everyone, including professionals like bankers and lawyers, to join the initiative to develop Amasaman.
