KWAHU WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY SCHOOLED TRADERS ON RE-CONSTRUCTION OF CENTRAL MARKET.
The Kwahu West Municipaiity Assembly met with the Nkawkaw central market traders before the commencement of the reconstruction of the market.
Speaking at the gathering, Hon.Tamimu, the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the engagement with the traders was to discuss the reconstruction of market upgrades, focusing on safety, sanitation and modernizing facilities.
He noted that the traders expressed fear of being displaced when the reconstruction of the facility begins but he assured them the Assembly has set up a proper database of the traders that will help bring them back to their current location.
On his part, the Rev. Daniel Nkrumah, the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly’s Coordinating Director, stressed that the engagement was to ensure an immediate commencement of the redevelopment of the Nkawkaw Cental markets.
The project, which include the construction of access road in the market, lockable stores, a health post, a security post, a kindergarten (KG) school, places of convenience and other facilities to make it attractive and convenient for both sellers and buyers to do business.
Finally, NANA Kofi Onwona,Nkawkaw Sanaahene, _On behalf of Nkawkaw Chief, Nana Esono Adade l,_ stressed, the Projects is aimed to address traders concerns, improve the trading environment, and enhance safety measures (such as fire safety and sanitation) noting, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable development whiles, requested cooperation from traders to move to designated areas to avoid enforcement actions.
