TAGG set to battle Ghana Revenue Authority in court Over AI Contract Transparency.

The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has informed the general public, the media, and the relevant of its decision to take legal action against the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) over their refusal to disclose information related to the contract awarded to Truedare Investment limited for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) activities concerning clearing at Tema Port.
(TAGG) On February 10, 2026, submitted an application for access to information under the Right to Information Act 2019 (Act 989) to request a copy of the contract between GRA and Truedare Investment limited the company awarded the mandate to execute the AI systems. However, on February 25, 2026, GRA declined our request, citing Section 11 of Act 989.
According to the group, the Ghana Revenue Authority, after denying their request, cited that the contract contained confidential third-party commercial information, and disclosure would harm the commercial and competitive interests of the said company.
TAGG, therefore, strongly disagrees with GRA’s decision and the reasoning behind their refusal to grant access to vital information.
The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana insists that as traders impact Ghana’s economy, we believe in transparency and accountability in processes directly affecting port operations, import duties, and valuation systems.
“The concerns and livelihood of traders must not be overlooked or sacrificed for the benefit of undisclosed corporate interests.”
In a press release, TAGG is alleged that the company awarded this contract Truedare Investment Limited, supposedly responsible for introducing AI systems to improve valuation processes,
is not specialized in IT or technological solutions. Rather, records suggest it is a trade company registered in Cyprus, raising questions about their qualifications and expertise in executing such critical AI-based operations.
The group has further pointed out that the development is alarming, considering the profound effects AI-driven activities can have on import classification, valuation systems, and the fair determination of customs duties.
“We firmly believe that transparency is non-negotiable in matters of national interest, especially when it concerns the economic activities of traders at Tema Port and beyond”.
