Élevè HealthWatch has issued an official statement regarding its ongoing work to expand access to community-based healthcare in Ghana.

Élevè HealthWatch in partnership with the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to provide free community-based care in Ghana.
1. Élevè HealthWatch in partnership with the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Akwapim South Health Directorate and the Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central is providing free community-based care in Ghana, focusing on addressing the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, stroke, cancers, and chronic respiratory illnesses in rural and semi-urban areas.

2. In areas like Akwapim South, particularly Berekuso and Oboadaka, healthcare facilities face challenges like limited infrastructure, workforce shortages, and difficult transport links, leading to delays in screening, referral, and follow-up, thereby increasing the risk of preventable disabilities and premature deaths. Without additional investment, NCDs will continue to strain available resources and deepen health inequalities.

Eleve Healthwatch again partnered with Akwapim South municipal health directorate and Rotary club Accra Ring Road central, where over 600 participants screened in Berekusu and Oboadaka.

3. The Healthy Futures Ghana initiative aims to enhance early detection, prevention, and management of NCDs and maternal health complications in underserved communities by providing free NCD screening, mental health services, maternal health services, health education, and capacity building for local clinics. The project involves collaboration between international clinicians and local Ghanaian doctors to strengthen skills transfer and mentorship for sustainable improvements in healthcare.

4. As part of the initiative, Élevè HealthWatch has donated a mobile US scanner, provided training for midwives, and equipped clinics with point-of-care testing equipment, blood pressure machines, and other essential medical supplies. The project is supported by various partners like Akwapim South Municipal Health Directorate, Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, Give To Life Charity, Unicom Pharmaceuticals, Decor Zone, and Oasis Capital, among others.

5. The project is designed to offer a scalable, community-driven model for preventive care in Ghana by focusing on project delivery at the Berekuso community clinic, conducting free point-of-care testing for priority NCDs, streamlining care pathways, mental health services, providing maternal services like antenatal ultrasound, and emphasizing training and mentorship programs to upskill local clinicians for better healthcare delivery.
