Old Tafo MP Advocates improved Inmate Feeding, Supports Prisoners with Legal Aid.

 

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Hon, Vincent Ekow Assafuah , has called on government to implement the proposed five cedis daily feeding allocation for prison Inmates to improve their welfare.

He made the appeal during a visit to Kumasi Central Prisons, where he donated meals to over 2,500 Inmates in collaboration with Jofell Restaurant .

Hon, Vincent noted that the current Feeding allowance for Inmates is inadequate, stressing that increasing it to five Ghana cedis would significantly enhance nutrition and living conditions within the country’s Prisons.

Beyond the donation, the MP also pledged to support Inmates who may have valid grounds to appeal their cases.

He indicated his readiness to work with fellow lawyers to provide legal assistance aimed at reducing sentences or securing the release of deserving Inmates.

The Ashanti Regional Prisons Commander, DDP James B. Mwinyelle who received the donation on behalf of the facility, expressed gratitude to the MP for the support describing it as timely and impactful.

DDP James B. Mwinyelle also echoed the need to have legal aid for inmate, stating that of the prison inmate find themselves locked up because of legal aid.
