The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly KMA has officially handed over two befitting toilet facilities for the J. A Kufuor Senior High School (SHS) at a brief ceremony on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Sokoban a suburb of Kumasi.
The two separate 14-seater institutional sanitation facilities for male and female students, also have water supply connections, handwashing basins, solid waste management, and auxiliary facilities.
Hon. Samuel Pyne tested the washing basin of one of the toilet facilities.
Funded by the World Bank, the two sanitation facilities fall under the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area (GKMA) institutional toilets by the Ministry of Sanitation and were constructed for 1,436,080.62 by
N/S Era Construction Company Limited.
The two projects began on April 3, 2023, and completed on September 3, 2023.
Before handing over the keys to the institutional sanitation facilities, Hon. Samuel Pyne, the mayor of Kumasi, urged school authorities to see the proper use of the facilities. He said the facilities should be maintained to benefit future students of the school.
He was very impressed with the work done by the contractor, especially, the provision of toiletries and detergents.
Receiving the facility on behalf of the Metro Director of Education, Madam Margaret Do-Nani, School Improvement Support officer of Adiebeba Circuit of Education thanked the mayor and the Assembly for responding swiftly to the plight of the students.

She pledged that the education directorate would continuously join hands with school authorities to maintain the toilet facilities’ condition to prolong its use.
Mr. Frimpong Boateng, Headmaster of J. A Kufuor SHS also thanked the Mayor of Kumasi and KMA for extending such nice facilities to them which would go a long way to improve teaching and learning.
