National Patron for Used Clothing Association, Mr. Paul Oscar Ankomah aka Oscarpak has described former President John Mahama’s fixed rate for Spare Parts and importers, and import policy as a catalyst tool to help improve their businesses.
The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. John Dramani Mahama promised to engage with all importers knowing that goods imported into the country come from various destinations across the world as part of the implementation of the fixed rate.
According to him, the introduction of the fixed rate policy for Spare Parts dealers and importers at large is a crucial step in eliminating corruption at the ports and also safeguarding the investment of their members.
He therefore reiterated that the fixed rate importation will ensure a fair and transparent importation process at the various ports.
He pointed out that the Association acknowledged the former President’s initiative to engage with all embassies to demand an amount of money deposited into an account for visas.
He therefore concluded that the policy will help importers and spare parts dealers to determine the cost and pricing of goods and will also broaden the government’s revenue mobilisation mechanism regime.
