CFF-Ghana condemns violent political clash in Mamobi

The Community Focus Foundation Ghana (CFF-Ghana) has issued a strong condemnation of the violent clash that erupted between supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mamobi on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

CFF-Ghana expressed outrage over the sporadic shootings that resulted in injuries, some of which were life-threatening.

This incident is part of a troubling trend of political violence that has plagued Ghana in recent years, raising concerns about the country’s democratic integrity.

The organization emphasized the urgent need for the government to fully implement the Anti-Vigilantism Law to prevent future occurrences of such violence.

In their statement, CFF-Ghana remarked, “Indeed this appalling act of violence is not an isolated incident; in recent years political violence has become the order of the day in Ghana.”

The foundation has called on the Ghana Police Service to swiftly arrest individuals involved in the violence and ensure justice for the victims.

They urged all electoral stakeholders, including political parties and the National Peace Council, to take early warning signs of electoral violence seriously and establish robust measures to mitigate such risks as the 2024 elections approach.

CFF-Ghana emphasized the critical need for a peaceful electoral environment in Ghana, advocating for collaborative efforts among various stakeholders to address the root causes of political violence.
