The Vanuatu Trade Commission in Ghana has issued a call to Commonwealth nations, urging them to consider Vanuatu as a prime destination for investment and partnership.
This invitation comes on the heels of Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey’s historic election as the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, making her the first Ghanaian and the first African woman to hold this prestigious position.
In a statement celebrating Botchwey’s achievement, the Trade Commissioner, His Excellency Ambassador Prof. Hugh Aryee, expressed pride in this landmark milestone for both Ghana and the African continent, emphasizing its significance in showcasing African leadership within the Commonwealth.
“Your achievement is a monumental step for Ghana and the entire African continent, highlighting the influence and promise of African leadership within the Commonwealth,” he stated.
He also noted his own role as the first Ghanaian appointed by Vanuatu as its Trade Commissioner to Ghana, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening ties between Africa and the Pacific.
Vanuatu, a proud member of the Commonwealth since 1980, is eager to engage with other member nations across various sectors, including tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, financial services, and real estate.
The Trade Commission highlighted Vanuatu’s potential as an investment hub and invited Commonwealth countries to explore opportunities in these areas.
In conclusion, the statement reaffirmed Vanuatu’s openness to investments from Commonwealth countries, emphasizing favorable regulations and abundant resources.
His Excellency Ambassador Prof. Hugh Aryee seized the opportunity to wish Mrs Botchwey well as she begins her tenure, stating that her leadership is expected to foster new energy and unity within the Commonwealth, and enhancing cooperation among member states and expanding collaboration opportunities.
