ASHANTI REGION:FIRE GUTS OVER 30 SHOPS AT RACE COURSE MARKET

A devastating fire ravaged the a section of the Racecourse Market, destroyed over 30 shops.

The blaze, which started at around 12 am on Tuesday, primarily consumed metal container and wood shops selling water melon, grapes while others operate cold stores.

The Ghana Fire Service dispatched three fire engines to battle the flames and prevent further damage. While no casualties were reported, the fire has left many traders devastated after losing their livelihoods.

Speaking in an interview with the Ashanti Regional Queen mothers of the water melon sellers Association, Naomi Serwaa appealed to government and other philanthropists to come to their aid.

According to her, most of the affected traders in the market secured loans to boost the business, and the unfortunate incident of the fire outbreak would be very difficult for them during this festive period.
