Gov’t has taken deliberate steps to expedite passport processing for Hajj pilgrims- Ablakwa

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced government’s plans to introduce measures to streamline and accelerate passport processes particularly for Hajj pilgrims.

According to him, this move is part of President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts to serving the needs of all Ghanaians, regardless of their backgrounds.

Speaking at the Hajj Village on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa emphasized that this move has the full backing of President John Mahama and it is way to ensure that Ghanaians have easy access to government services.

“For the first time in our nation’s history, the government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has taken deliberate steps to streamline and expedite passport processing specifically for Hajj pilgrims,” he stated.

“This initiative, which has the full support of His Excellency, the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is a testament to the government’s commitment to serving the needs of all Ghanaians, regardless of their background, and ensuing that every citizen has access to essential government services in a timely and efficient manner.”

Mr. Ablakwa also stressed on the importance of Hajj, calling it a “deeply spiritual and transformative journey.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, as we all know, Hajj is a deeply spiritual and transformative journey. The Holy Quran admonishes every Muslim who is financially capable and physically capable to undertake it at least once in their lifetime.”

“It is a journey of faith, devotion, and unity, bringing together millions of Muslims from all over the world in an act of obedience to Almighty Allah,” he added.

In conclusion, he assured Ghanaians that government will do its best to ensure that other sectors are also boosted to enhance efficiency in government services.
