MENSTRUAL HEALTH : GOVERNMENT URGED TO REDUCE TAXES ON SANITARY PADS – ROSS – B CARE FOUNDATION
Ross – B care Foundation has donated sanitary pads to aid over 700 learners at Ashiaman JHS, primary, and basic schools here in Accra.
The Ross – B Care Foundation’s donation of sanitary pads to support learners at Ashiaman No 5A JHS, No 5B Basic, and No 3 Primary schools is a commendable initiative to support menstrual health and hygiene among young girls at the school.
Ross – B care foundation in Ghana has been working towards providing sustainable menstrual products to school girls.
The foundation’s efforts highlight the importance of addressing menstrual health and hygiene in schools. By providing access to sanitary products and education, they help girls manage their periods with dignity and confidence, ultimately improving their educational outcomes and well-being.
Speaking on the theme “Together for a period – Friendly Ghana,” the Chief Executive Officer of Ross – B Care Foundation Dr. Rose Braimah noted that the foundation is honoured to be part of the journey towards creating a society that is more understanding, supportive, and inclusive of menstrual hygiene needs.
She added that menstruation is part of life among women, and there should not be a source of fear or shame in dealing with it as young girls.
She, however, stressed the need to break free from the myth and misconceptions that surround menstruation.
She further encouraged all to embrace their period with confidence and pride.
Dr. Rose Braimah later appealed to the government to reduce taxes on sanitary pads in making it less expensive for the patronage of the less privileged young girls, she then called for support from individuals, corporate bodies, and government to help the foundation execute it’s mandate of providing more sanitary pads to students and beyond, in ensuring young girls contribute to national development and stand firm in their menstrual health.
In concluding her speech, Dr. Braimah expressed her heartfelt gratitude to E-force Electrical Company, the event’s main sponsor, commending their generosity and dedication to inspiring the community.
She also extended her appreciation to school administrations, teachers, and parents for their tireless efforts and dedication in creating an environment that fosters growth, learning, and development for you girls.
The headmistress of Ashiaman 5A Basic school who also doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of the school Bizoola Vivian Gandaa, on behalf of the students expressed gratitude to the Ross – B Care foundation for the kind gesture and urged the students to desist from alcoholism, drugs, and sexual activities, but rather concentrate on their education that would enable them impart society positively and also grow up to be responsible citizens in contributing their quota to national development.
The leadership of Ross – B Care Foundation says more of this initiative would be extended to other parts of the country in strengthening menstrual health issues among young girls.
