CSSp, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, paid his first pastoral visit to St. Peter Catholic Church, Adjen-Kotoku, on September 21, marking a historic milestone in the life of the parish.

The visit brought together the parish’s outstations—Divine Mercy, Our Lady of Victory, and Mary Mother of God—who converged at the main church to join the celebration.

The day began with a colorful procession led by a brass band, followed by Mass servers, Sunday school children, the youth, and church societies including St. Theresa’s, Christian Mothers, and the Men of Confraternity.

The Archbishop followed in his vehicle, symbolizing his spiritual leadership and presence among the faithful.

Upon arrival, Mr. John, Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council, officially welcomed the Archbishop on behalf of the parish community.

The Archbishop graciously acknowledged the welcome before presiding over a solemn Mass.

In his homily, Archbishop Kwofie delivered a stirring message centered on integrity, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

He strongly condemned the destructive practice of illegal mining, known as galamsey, citing its devastating effects on water bodies, farmlands, and livelihoods.

He also cautioned against dishonesty and cheating, urging the faithful to uphold honesty and truthfulness in every aspect of life.

The Archbishop called on the congregation to become responsible stewards of God’s creation and to live out their faith with moral courage and commitment.

The pastoral visit was a source of great joy and blessing for the parish, strengthening the unity of the community and inspiring members to renew their faith and commitment to living virtuous lives.
