E/R,,PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES EMPOWERS WITH LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT.
The Municipal Chief in Executive (MCE) of the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly Hon. Tamimu Halidu,in the Eastern Region has distributed items to persons with disabilities and the initiative aims to empower PWDs economically, reduce poverty, enhance their social image.
and encourage participant, when disbursed items to over 41 physically challenged persons in the Municipality, they took home items such as freezers, a fufu machines, a hair dryer, Sawing, among others.
Addressing at the event, Hon. Tamimu Halidu,the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive MCE, explained that upon receipt of the funds, the Assembly consulted the beneficiaries on the items they preferred to acquire to improve their standard of living before purchasing were made.
He noted that this approach was in line with the President’s vision to discourage persons with disabilities from resorting to begging on the streets, whiles further advised the beneficiaries to take proper care of the items and cautioned them against selling the items and also warned that anyone found culpable would be arrest, moreso, they should re-invest to expand their businesses as well as creating job opportunities for other.
On their part, some Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government and MCE for distributing the transformational items to support their livelihoods and assured they would not sell the items but would use them for the intended purpose.
