The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has issued a stern warning to media practitioners, cautioning them against unprofessional conduct in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
The warning was conveyed by Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the President of the GJA, during the launch of the GJA/US Embassy Ghana Election 2024 project, themed “Journalists for Peaceful Discourse.”
President Dwumfour made it clear that the GJA will not protect or defend any media practitioner who engages in behavior that incites violence or undermines the electoral process.
While emphasizing the importance of freedom of expression, President Dwumfour urged media practitioners to exercise responsible journalism.
He emphasized the need to avoid reporting in a manner that could potentially incite violence or undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
The GJA/US Embassy Ghana Election 2024 project, under the theme “Journalists for Peaceful Discourse,” aligns with efforts to promote responsible journalism and contribute to a peaceful electoral environment.
