My government will take decisive steps to reduce the number of presidential staffers- Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has made his intention clear to reduce the number of presidential staffers in his tenure.

Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in his second term on Thursday, February 27, 2025, President Mahama indicated the need for a lean and efficient government to ensure good use of resources.

This step, according to President Mahama, will promote efficiency and accountability in his administration.

According to the President, “we cannot continue to run a government where the cost of administration outweighs the benefits to the people.”

”My government will take decisive steps to reduce the number of presidential staffers to promote efficiency and accountability,” he added.

President Mahama stressed on the importance of a smaller but competent team as this is what Ghana needs to drive development agenda and impact the lives of Ghanaians.

”A smaller, more competent team is what we need to drive our development agenda.”

”We must cut down on bureaucracy and focus on delivering results that positively impact the lives of Ghanaians,” he explained.
