YOUNG CHRISTIAN WORKERS CELEBRATE MAY DAY AS PART OF THEIR HOLIDAY’S ACTIVITIES

International Workers’ Day, also known as Labour Day in some countries and often referred to as May Day, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs every year on 1 May, or the first Monday in May.

May Day is celebrate purposely As a pagan holiday, May Day is quite old. Also known as Beltane, it was designated as a holiday to promote and celebrate fertility, as well as a chance to celebrate the end of the cold winter months, as the first day of May was also the beginning of summer.

During the May Day celebration in Accra Madina Ashaley Botwe inside St Francis of Asiisi parish the southern zone YCW president George Kojo Banson said today’s May Day marks the celebration for all workers in the world and the theme for the May Day celebration is “empowering workers through flexible work systems and advocacy campaigns for all dignified life”.

This year St Francis of Asiisi Ashaley Botwe is hosting the rest of the southern zone in some part of the Eastern region and Greater Accra. He therefore continued that, we are here to celebrate the workers and also encourage our members that they shouldn’t be timid in the office and they shouldn’t also be lazy when you want your employer to pay you much we need to do more; A lot of our people use their phone when is a time for office duties instead of concentrate and do the necessary work.

When you work you work to satisfy your employer so that anytime you ask for salary increment they will also do that for you.
