Mangose is a town located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. In the city, there is a family known as the Donm Kwedjo family they claim to be the head of the city. The Donm kwedjo family was not happy with the decision of the Ghana Railway Authority to ravage the rail steel.
They claimed that since they came for their steel, they would also take back their land, which their forebearers sold to the Ghana railway a hundred years ago. The family took power in their hands and demolished the cocoa shell that was made by the Ghana railway and other properties around the area.
They also asked the people who were occupying the land to pack out because they had taken possession of their land
As this operation was ongoing the Assembly man of the Mangose electoral area Mr Obeng Brown paid a call to the people who were involved in the operation and they said it was an order from the Family house which is the Shai family house (krobo).
The reason for the demolishment on the side of the family is that, since the Ghana railway has come to destroy the railway then they are no longer interested in the property, and even their time is due so they want to sell it to people that will bring progress to the land.
This helped the Assemblyman confirm that it was the Shai family who was responsible for this action
The Assemblyman together with the other members of the community is not happy with this.
Exercise going on, according to him some part of the area was a school that is the Methodist basic school. Of late the school is currently inactive due to some reasons, he also added that they were now ready to make the school a technical and vocational school, and here is the case that the Family is ravaging the land and even selling it. The family on the other hand does not have any evidence or document that states that the government has handed over the property to them.
When we reached out to Ghana Railway they informed us that they were not aware of anything the family was doing and that they had not handed over the property to them
Also if the family has a problem with the time that is due they should see them for a follow-up if not they will let the police take action immediately
