Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has revealed government’s plans to upgrade the Greater Accra Regional Hosptal, popularly called, Ridge Hospital, into a Teaching Hospital.
Speaking on JoyNews program, The Upfront, Mr. Akandoh highlighted that this move is part of government’s efforts to improve Ghana’s healthcare delivery system and also expand its reach.
According to him, the government has made plans to establish at least one regional hospital in all sixteen regions.
He stressed that the upgrade of these hospitals will ensure their effectiveness and improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the nation.
Mr. Akandoh also reiterated the government’s commitment to improving already existing facilities, including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
“We are also looking at upgrading some of the already existing health facilities. You don’t build new ones and leave already existing ones to deteriorate. So we are looking at improving Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and upgrading Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.”
