POLICE CID AND NACOC DESTROY 10 ACRES OF CANNABIS FARMS IN THE EASTERN REGION

 

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) , Police High Risk Operations and Training Center and in ongoing collaborative operations with the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have destroyed about ten acres of cannabis farms.

The police have arrested for 6 Suspected who has been engaged into cannabis cultivation in the Okere and Yilo municipality in the
Eastern Region.

The farm, located in a secluded bush at Apraade – Nsuta in the Okere municipality and Nsuta – Havie in the Yilo – Krobo municipality, was discovered by the police after they had gone to the area to arrest the suspects.

Speaking with the media
during the operation, Commander at the thePolice High Risk Operations and Training Center, Dr. Samuel Antwi – Akomea said police also discovered that the owners of the plantation had connected electricity to their farms.

He said the objective for the extension of electricity to the farms was to boast the production of amnesia, a type of marijuana that thrives under electricity.

He further indicated that the ones destroyed were mature so when we weed them down they will go and process it.

He therefore said continuously cracks down on illegal cannabis (Indian hemp) cultivation and efforts involve large-scale destruction of illegal farms in regions alongside intelligence-led .

He however, warned to deal drastically with perpetrators in the coming days.
