Prampram Homowo: Asafoatse Calls For Action Against Social Media Abuse, Drug Menace And Erosion Of Cultural Heritage
The Asafoatse of the Prampram Lomotey-Weh Lakpleh Family, Asafoatse Tetteh Akroboso III, has called for greater attention on the misuse of social media and the need to preserve Ghana’s cultural heritage.

Speaking during this year’s Prampram Homowo celebration, the traditional leader expressed concern over what he described as growing indiscipline in society, attributing it partly to the widespread use of illegal drugs among the youth.
According to him, many children and students no longer show respect to authority figures, a situation he linked to rising drug abuse.

He described the growing involvement of young people in drug abuse as alarming and called on Ghanaians, especially the younger generation, to stay away from illegal drugs.
Asafoatse Akroboso III also bemoaned the rate at which sexual videos are being shared on social media in the country, saying the trend is harmful to young children and called on authorities to rise up against sexual immorality.
He further disclosed that statistics show Prampram is among areas with one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS with a drastic increase, a situation he described as worrying.
He said the development should engage the attention and cooperation of all persons in the quest to address challenges associated with the disease, stressing the need for collective commitment to bring down the prevalence rate.
He advised against unprotected sex and encouraged faithfulness, abstinence and the promotion of condom use.
In addition, he urged the youth to show concern towards the preservation of the nation’s cultural heritage, to cherish festivals and uphold traditional values that reflect their way of life and promote pride in Ghana’s rich culture.
