UNPAF Africa Chairman Joins 2026 Gbawe Homowo Yellow Saturday Health Peace Walk
The International Executive Chairman of UN Peace Ambassadors Foundation Africa Inc. (UNPAF AFRICA), His Royal Majesty Ambassador Nana Sultan Adamu Mohammed, on Saturday joined hundreds of youth, traditional leaders and community members for the 2026 Gbawe Homowo Yellow Saturday Health Peace Walk.
The walk, organised by the Gbawe Youth Alliance as part of activities marking the annual Homowo Festival of the Ga people, brought together residents of Gbawe, Sowutuom and the Weija-Gbawe Municipality in a show of unity, health awareness and peacebuilding.
Clad in yellow, participants walked through the principal streets of Gbawe chanting peace songs and carrying messages on healthy living and communal harmony.
Addressing participants, HRM Amb. Nana Sultan Adamu Mohammed said the spirit of Homowo — which symbolises resilience and triumph over hunger — must be extended to the fight against disease, violence and disunity.
“Homowo teaches us resilience – hooting at hunger. Today we hoot at disease, hoot at violence, and hoot at disunity. Yellow Saturday reminds us that health is peace and peace is health,” he said.
He stated that UNPAF AFRICA, a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit with Charity ID C76813750 registered in Beaufort, South Carolina, USA and operating from Accra, will continue to partner with youth-led initiatives that promote AU Agenda 2063 and the principles of peace, while remaining an independent nonprofit not affiliated to the United Nations.
The Health Peace Walk ended with a free health screening exercise, clean-up campaign and a cultural durbar at the Gbawe Palace.
