Kwahu West Municipal Assembly Finally Elects Presiding Member
The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has finally elected its Presiding Member after several unsuccessful attempts.
The election, supervised by the Municipal Officer of the Electoral Commission, went through three separate sittings and six rounds of voting between the two contestants, Hon. Peter Adjei Dua and Hon. Eric Owusu.
After the second round of voting on the final day, Hon. Peter Adjei Dua secured the required two-thirds majority of 28 votes to become the Presiding Member of the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly.
Speaking after the election, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, expressed excitement and commended Assembly Members for placing the interest of the Assembly first to ensure the election of a Presiding Member.
He explained that the absence of a Presiding Member would have negatively affected the Assembly’s performance under the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT).
