Executive Director of Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson has stated emphatically that President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government has never been sincere to fight against illegal mining in the country.
Speaking at a Youth Alliance for Green Ghana Press Conference today, June 9th , 2023 , held at Ghana International Press Center to mark Green Ghana day, Mr. Thompson hinted that President Akufo-Addo’s misunderstanding with Professor Frimpong Boateng who was the chairman of the inter-ministerial committee on illegal mining clearly shows that government machinery is heavily involved with illegal mining.
This to him, is what is stopping the Government from acting on the inter-ministerial committee report presented to him by Frimpong Boateng.
