Following a recent chieftaincy clash between two rival factions in Sampa, a town in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Jaman North, Adane Ankomah, has reported that calm has been restored in the area.
The clash arose from a long-standing chieftaincy dispute between two royal families in the region after the passing of Nana Kofi Sono II in 2007.
To address the matter, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, made a ruling on Friday, June 23, 2023. In his ruling, he declared Abu Mahama and Adama Watara as the legitimate kingmakers in the Sampa Traditional Council.
The DCE, Mr. Adane Ankomah, has confirmed that peace has been restored in Sampa following the ruling.
While the clash resulted in injuries to seven individuals, the situation has now been resolved, and calm has returned to the area.
“Efforts to maintain peace and stability will likely continue, with local authorities and community leaders working together to prevent any further disruptions and ensure the well-being of the residents in the Jaman North District,” he added.
