Founder of the Union Government, Akwasi Adai Odike says he agrees with the notion suggested by the Ghanaians National Alliances for all independent political parties to join forces together to form a united party.
According to him, unity is strength hence when there is unity, they can be able to break the duopoly of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NEW Patriotic Party (NPP).
During a press conference yesterday, August 12, 2024, the Ghanaians National Alliances, in conjunction with the Osagyefo Youth Movement Unification Council called on all independent candidates from across the country to unite behind a single independent candidate for the upcoming elections.
They indicated that their goal is to provide a viable alternative to the traditional two-party system dominated by the NPP and NDC and to give the people of Ghana a fresh choice for leadership.
In response to this request, Mr. Odike affirmed that his party’s union with Alan Kyeremanten’s Movement for Change to form the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) was based on national interests and not personal interests so if the Ghanaians National Alliances are calling for unity of all independent candidates and parties, he agrees with them.
Mr. Odike seized the opportunity to call all independent parties to join forces and eliminate the two-party system in Ghana as these two political parties, according to him, serve their personal interests and not national interests.
