ATWIMA MPONUA ASSEMBLY MEMBERS RESPONSE TO DIRECTIVE ON THE RETURN OF DISTRICT ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (DRIP) EQUIPMENT

Assembly members of Atwima mponua today address a directive recently issued by Ashanti regional co-ordinating council(RCC) regarding the return of wheel loaders and Bulldozers provided under the DRIP initiative.

According to assembly members over 500 rural communities, the majority of which rely on farming as their primary livelihood. How ever, these communities are burdened by extremely poor road infrastructure, making it difficult for farmers to transport their products to the district capital.

They stress that, the deplorable state of the road has contributed significantly to isolation of these communities, limiting their potential for economic development and growth.

According to the presiding member Hon Justice Nkrumah Boateng who who led the press conference said taking away the equipment provided DRIP, which is currently facilitating these essential infrastructure projects, will significantly hinder their development progress.

He said these machines have played a crucial role in reshaping roads and making vital infrastructure improvement that directly benefits their communities.

They said, if this directive to return the machines is enforced ,the completion of their project will be delayed and their already struggling communities will face even greater challenges

According to Nyinahin hene representative Nana Nana Oti Obuadua Akomhene of nyinahin said it is important to note that Atwima Mponua district has faced a previous situation where essential equipment, specifically their Fire truck (referred to as fire thunder) was taken away to Obuase in 2015.

This action impact their ability to respond effectively to emergencies in the district

Nananom said they will not repeat this experience with the Bulldozers and Wheel loaders as the loss of their resources would further compromise the development and safety of their communities.

They request that the regional co-ordinating council allows the continue use of the Wheel loaders and Bulldozers in the district or alternatively, that the dialogue be initiated to seek a workable solution that ensure the timely completion of critical Road infrastructure projects
