Residents of Manso Tontokrom , together with their Assembly Member and Unit Committee members in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, have embarked on a communal labour exercise to reshape a deteriorating mountain road that has claimed several lives. The community, determined to address the life-threatening condition of the road, is calling on the government for urgent support.
Speaking to the media, the Unit Committee Chairman, Mr. Kwabena Animonyam, popularly known as Okomfour Kwaadae, stressed the dire situation, noting that many lives have been lost due to the poor state of the road.
“This mountain road has become a death trap. We cannot sit and watch more people lose their lives, which is why we took the initiative to start reshaping it ourselves. However, our efforts alone are not enough. We need the government to intervene and provide the necessary resources to ensure the road is properly constructed,” he pleaded.
Several residents also voiced their concerns, emphasizing the importance of a well-maintained road for their safety and economic activities. They urged the authorities to prioritize the rehabilitation of the road, which serves as a crucial link to their community.
The people of Manso Tontokrom remain hopeful that their proactive efforts will attract the needed attention from the government and relevant agencies to provide a lasting solution to their infrastructural challenges.
