Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has acknowledged that Ghana’s economy is in deep crisis as this crisis was inherited from the previous administration.
Delivering the 2025 budget statement on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Dr. Ato Forson revealed that Ghana’s economy has been deeply hit by debts and other economic challenges such as rising inflation, struggling currency and debt levels.
“We inherited an economy in deep crisis. Mr. Speaker, an economy hard hit by debts and other fiscal challenges such as the large accumulation of MDAs arrears, energy sector, and financial sector payments,” he said.
According to him, Ghana’s economic crisis is attributed to “reckless public spending” by the previous administration, stressing that it has deeply affected the country’s expenses and ways through which government can stabilize the economy.
Dr. Ato Forson reassured Ghanaians that the government will fix these problems and reset the economy back to normal.
“We will fix it,” he assured.
