The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Kwashiekuma Local celebrated the 2025 World Teachers’ Day in Accra.
In an interview with Mr. Edward Kyeremeh, the Local Chairman, he emphasized that the day is special for teachers to showcase their good work.
“We normally celebrate on October 6th every year, but since it fell on a Sunday this year, we rescheduled it to allow each local chapter to celebrate theirs,” he explained.
“As part of our celebration, we’ve organized a program to educate our members, particularly during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
Mr. Kyeremeh added that the occasion also honors some of their members and children in Ghana.
“This is our first time celebrating GNAT Day as Kwashiekuma Local, and I’m glad we could make it happen despite some challenges,” he said.
The Chairman advised teachers in Ghana, especially those in Kwashiekuma Local, to continue doing their best.
“Every teacher knows what’s good to do when at work,” he said.
Reverend Seth Agyakwa, the Ga District GNAT Youth Organizer, called for motivation and support from the government and the public to aid teachers in their work.
He expressed gratitude to an Honorable Assembly member at Kotoku in Accra and urged everyone to support teachers for their work to prosper.
He also advised parents to support their children’s education, saying, “Women and men who aren’t married yet should come closer and support their children in studies.”
Madam Mary Otu Awuah, a Senior Staff Midwife, used the occasion to encourage women to regularly undergo breast examinations and check-ups.
She also advised women to ask their partners to massage their breasts to maintain fitness.
