Early Power has threatened the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to cut its electricity supply if debt of $48,215,405.89 is not settled by end of February 28, 2025.
In a letter sent to the Acting Managing Director of ECG on Friday, February 28, 2025, Early Power revealed that the payment of $48,215,405.89 is long overdue and has severe financial implications for the power provider.
For this reason, Early Power is demanding for an immediate payment of the overdue amount, setting a final deadline of February 28, 2025.
“As a result of ECG’s default in payment, the Seller finds itself in a precarious financial position and will not be able to meet its debt service obligations and operating costs,” the statement said.
“The Seller hereby demands the immediate payment of the PPA Arrears Overdue in full and in any case, no later than 28 February, 2025, failing which the Buyer will resort to remedies available to it under the PPA and the PCOA.”
The letter was signed by the General Manager, Reginald France, for and on behalf of Early Power.
It was also copied to the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Energy, the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), and the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana.
