
Nuclear Power Ghana Concludes Successful Virtual Workshop for Media Professionals
Accra, Ghana – Friday, February 28, 2025 – Nuclear Power Ghana (NPG) has successfully concluded a 2-day virtual workshop designed specifically for media professionals. The workshop, which took place from Thursday, February 27 to Friday, February 28, 2025, focused on the transformative nature of nuclear power technology and its relevance for Ghanaians.
The workshop featured a lineup of esteemed experts, including Dr. Stephen Yamoah, Executive Director of NPG, who delivered the opening remarks and set the tone for the event. Other notable presenters included Mr. Daniel Wordson, who spoke on “The Major Components of a Nuclear Power Plant and their Relevance,” and Dr. Felix Ameyaw, who discussed “The Advantages of Nuclear Energy and Applications.
The first day of the workshop also included a Q&A session moderated by Messrs. David Dankwa-Apawu and George Appiah, as well as a Mentimeter exercise on “Benefits and Opportunities of Nuclear Energy” facilitated by Mr. Daniel Wordson.

Day 2 of the workshop began with a review of Day 1 and group presentations of assignments, led by Mr. David Dankwa-Apawu. Dr. Stephen Yamoah then delivered a presentation on “The Nuclear Fuel Cycle (key components and associated Safety Concerns) and the differences in Large and Small Reactor Technology.” A Q&A session moderated by Mr. George Appiah followed, along with a Mentimeter exercise on “Assessment of Knowledge and Participation” facilitated by Mr. Daniel Wordson.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Archibold Buah-Kwofie, Ag. Director of the Nuclear Power Institute (NPI).

The virtual workshop provided a valuable platform for media professionals to engage with experts and gain comprehensive insights into Ghana’s burgeoning nuclear power project. As Ghana continues to explore nuclear energy as a viable option for its energy mix, the role of the media in shaping public perception and fostering informed discourse is crucial.
