President of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG), Surveyor Ing. Samuel Larbi Darko, has indicated that licensed surveyors play crucial role in shaping the built environment and ensuring sustainable development.
He made these comments at the 6th annual General meeting of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG), under the theme, “leveraging base maps for urban transformation and economic growth” on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in Accra.
Ing. Darko emphasized that the work of licensed surveyors has a direct impact on communities, economies, and environments.
He expressed his pride in leading the association and acknowledged the significant strides made in its operations.
The seminar focused on liberty-based maps, transformation, and economic growth.
According to Ing. Darko, the association has undergone a constitutional review, including changes to its election processes.
He revealed that the elections of new executives is scheduled to take place on March 27, 2025.
Speaking at the event, the former Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South East, Francis Manu-Adabor, underscored the crucial role of technology in shaping the future of Africa’s land management and development sectors.
According to him, base maps are foundations in which urban transformation and economic growth are built, and it provides a special framework for planning, decision making, and investment.
He entreated Surveyors not to provide only accurate, current, and reliable data. Rather, they must ensure the data must be leverage to drive sustainable development.
