COP MAAME TIWAA URGES PARENTS TO TAKE ACTIVE ROLE IN CHILDREN’S DISCIPLINE AND VALUES
COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the Ekuo Na of Holy Family Akankuo in the Accra Archdiocese of the Catholic Church, has called on parents to take a more active role in disciplining and instilling values in their children.
During a Zone 2 Akankuo visitation, which coincided with her birthday celebration, held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Awoshie-Anyaa, Accra, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah stressed that parents should not solely rely on teachers and others to discipline their children.
“I believe it’s not just the school that shapes a child’s upbringing. As parents, we play a crucial role, especially since children spend their formative years – three, four, or five years – at home before attending school. Let’s teach our children the values of life and the importance of integrity, so they can grow into responsible individuals.”
She highlighted the importance of parents teaching children values such as integrity and respect, citing an experience she had while traveling abroad where children showed remarkable respect to her. COP Addo-Danquah noted that this behavior was a result of proper upbringing and discipline, which parents should prioritize.
Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the technical adviser at the Interior Ministry also cautioned parents about the potential negative effects of social media on children and advised them to monitor their children’s online activities.
The event, which marked COP Addo-Danquah’s birthday, was attended by retired police officers and national executives of the Holy Family Society in the Accra Archdiocese and Zone 2 Akankuo members.
