Adentan MCE Commissions 3-Storey Classroom Block At Otano Presbyterian School
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Adentan, Hon. Ella Esinam Christine Ningo, has commissioned a magnificent three-storey classroom block for the Otano Presbyterian School.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Monday, Hon. Ningo said the project is not merely about cutting a ribbon or commissioning a physical structure, but about celebrating a collective commitment to education, human capital development and the future of children in the municipality.
She acknowledged the efforts of government, the Adentan Municipal Assembly, the Ghana Education Service, the contractor, the school community, stakeholders and the Member of Parliament for the area whose contributions made the project a reality.
Hon. Ningo stressed that the Assembly considers investments in education not as an expenditure, but as a strategic investment in the future of children in Adentan and Ghana as a whole.
According to her, the provision of adequate and conducive infrastructure is critical to achieving quality education, noting that children cannot be expected to learn effectively in an overcrowded, unsafe and unsuitable environment.
She explained that the facility, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), was constructed to respond to increasing demand for classroom accommodation at the school. The project, described as Phase One, comprises an 18-unit classroom block according to initial announcement, though later referenced as a 12-unit block during the address.
The MCE said the completion of the project demonstrates that when public resources are properly prioritized and effectively managed, they can deliver projects that make meaningful difference in the lives of people.
She reiterated the Assembly’s vision of an Adentan Municipality where every child has access to quality, inclusive and equitable educational opportunities in a safe and conducive learning environment, emphasizing the need for inclusive education for children with disabilities and special needs.
Hon. Ningo called for collective support for education, stating that government alone cannot provide every solution, and invited individuals, businesses, civil society and development partners to partner with the Assembly.
She also expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Presbyterian Church for accommodating the school in their church auditorium when the need arose to ensure continuity of teaching and learning in the absence of a conducive classroom facility.
